Outdoor Park Ideas in Kansas City

At the junction of the Kansas City and Missouri Rivers lies one of the crossroads of America, Kansas City. General shelter reservations are available at this link for most parks throughout the city.

 

Loose Park

The site of a Civil War battle, this 75 acre park features a pond, tennis courts, and a rose garden. You can rent covered shelters for $125 on the weekends and $100 during the week. It has a grill and can house up to 150 people.

Penn Valley Park

This park is located close to downtown, and comprises 176 acres. Within this park is another 47 acre park called Memorial Park. The park has a WW2 museum as well as multiple types of sports fields. They do have a shelter but it is first come, first serve. It has a grill so feel free to roll up with your group and enjoy the afternoon, just arrive early.

Case Park

This park has tremendous views of the river, downtown, and multiple parks in and around it. There is plenty of picnic space available for free use. There is also a statue for the brave few who crossed the North American continent for the first time on their way to the Pacific: Lewis and Clark, along with Sacagewa, and a Seaman.

The Concourse Park

A long park, just south of the Missouri and east of the Kansas, this park offers a ton for kids to do. The park is 6 acres big and has a specific area for kids to slide down a hill. They have walking trails and rental facilities that can be accessed using the link above.

Minor Park

This former farm is now a 235 acre park with picnic spaces and a golf course. Feel free to rent the shelter at this link for $75 on the weekends and $44 during the week. There is a farmers market every Saturday morning during the nice weather months, so be aware. Lastly, this park is home to the Old Red Bridge Love Locks tradition whereby locals affix a love with the intials of each member of the couple to the bridge within the park.
